Coir vs Mini Pocket Spring Pet Mattresses: A Buyer’s Comparison
Choose a pet mattress core by comparing the complete construction and an approved sample—not by the core name alone. Keep the cover, finished dimensions and sample checks consistent so differences between quotations are meaningful.
What are the two core options?
Senzero’s pet mattress program includes coir-core and mini pocket spring directions. Coir is a plant-fibre support layer; mini pocket springs are small individually wrapped springs. These descriptions identify the support structure, not a guaranteed finished feel or medical benefit.
The top layers, quilting, cover tension and edge construction also form part of the finished mattress. Ask for a layer-by-layer specification rather than treating “coir” or “spring” as a complete product description.
What should appear in a like-for-like comparison?
| Decision | Coir option | Mini pocket spring option |
|---|---|---|
| Core definition | Coir layer thickness and composition | Spring unit height and construction |
| Finished height | Core plus all comfort and cover layers | Spring unit plus all comfort and cover layers |
| Edges | Edge shape and cover fit | Edge construction and cover fit |
| Packing | Method approved for this complete structure | Method approved for this complete structure |
Our product page lists 8 cm and 11 cm height directions, subject to construction. Do not assume that both heights are available with every core, or that those numbers describe core thickness alone. Request the finished height for the exact sample.
How do you compare samples fairly?
- Request the same finished length and width, and identify any differences in height, top layers or cover.
- Record the sample code and its layer specification before evaluating it.
- Compare the central resting area, edges, quilting and cover fit using one agreed assessment method.
- Check the finished sample after the proposed packing and unpacking process, not only before packing.
- Write down the accepted sample and any changes needed before ordering.
This is a purchasing checklist, not a standardized laboratory test. If measurable performance is required, agree the method, load, duration and acceptance criteria with the supplier and an appropriate testing provider.
Does a spring core automatically mean better support?
No universal conclusion follows from the core label. Compare the complete mattress against your product brief. Neither this guide nor a lifestyle image establishes pressure-relief performance, a therapeutic effect, durability or suitability for a particular animal. Any such claim needs separate evidence for the exact product.
What should you send for a quotation?
Specify the finished size, quantity per size, cover direction, target height, destination market and preferred core. If you are undecided, ask for two quotations using the same brief and require every difference to be listed. This avoids comparing a basic coir sample with a spring sample that also has different fabric, quilting and packaging.
“Please quote coir-core and mini pocket spring options for the same finished size and cover. List the full layer structure, finished height, sample terms and packing method for each. Identify any specification that cannot be matched.”
