How to Build a Pet Mattress Size Chart Buyers Can Actually Use
Build a pet mattress size chart from measured dimensions, not S/M/L labels alone. Show finished length, width and height, explain the usable sleeping area, and state how each measurement was taken. A breed name or weight range should not replace a physical fit check.
Separate the measurements buyers need
A size chart needs to distinguish the product a customer receives from the space a pet can use. This matters when comparing a flat mattress with a bed that has padded sides. Similar outside dimensions do not necessarily mean similar resting spaces.
- Finished outside size: the assembled product's overall length, width and height, including its cover.
- Usable sleeping area: the surface available inside any raised sides or frame. Define its boundaries on a drawing.
- Core and cover dimensions: development measurements used to check component fit, rather than the finished retail size.
For a flat mattress, confirm whether rounded corners or thick edging affect the stated resting area. For a furniture-style bed, show both the external footprint and the internal mattress space.
Agree a repeatable measuring procedure
Before assigning retail sizes, agree how the supplier will measure the product: unpacked and assembled, on a level surface, with no applied load, for example. Record the chosen procedure and the time of the check after unpacking. Do not assume a universal recovery period for every core.
Specify where the ruler starts and ends, whether height includes quilting, and how rounded edges are handled. Photograph the measurement points on the approved sample. Agree a tolerance for each dimension in writing rather than assuming every finished textile product will match a nominal number exactly.
If the mattress must fit a frame or crate, measure that internal space separately. Check installation clearance, cover removal and access with a sample. An outside crate dimension is not an internal mattress specification.
Show the difference in a size chart
The following values illustrate a chart format only. They are not Senzero stock sizes, approved tolerances or pet-fit recommendations.
| Field | Flat mattress example | Raised-side bed example |
|---|---|---|
| Outside length × width | 80 × 60 cm | 80 × 60 cm |
| Sleeping surface | Confirm against edges | 60 × 40 cm in this example |
| Height | Finished mattress height | Mattress and overall side heights separately |
| Tolerance | To be agreed | To be agreed |
Publishing only “80 × 60 cm” would leave a customer unable to compare the resting space. Add a simple measurement drawing to the approved listing assets so the boundaries are clear.
For centimetres and inches, use consistent conversion and rounding: 1 inch equals 2.54 cm. Keep one controlling measurement unit on the purchase specification so rounding does not create conflicting acceptance limits.
Check fit without inventing a universal breed chart
Ask customers to consider the space their pet occupies in its usual resting position and the space available at home. A curled-up posture and a fully stretched posture occupy different areas. A breed label alone does not establish fit for an individual animal.
If suggested weight or breed ranges are published, state their basis and limitations. Do not infer a load rating from dimensions alone. Senzero's pet mattress program uses project-specific dimensions and constructions that need to be confirmed together.
For a replacement cover, match the approved model and revision as well as nominal size. Corner shape, height, quilting and opening design also need a fit check.
Approve the chart alongside the product
Keep the size chart, sample drawing and quotation under the same reference code. Compare the product page, packaging and order sheet before launch: all should describe the same product.
“Please quote our proposed size range with finished dimensions, defined sleeping area and measurement tolerances. Show the measuring points on a sample drawing and confirm which dimensions control cover fit. Identify any size that needs a different construction or packing method.”
Use the sample and packaging checklist to verify that the approved size remains the specification used for order preparation.
