Comparing Pet Mattress Supplier Quotes: Match the Specification Before the Price

Two pet mattress quotations are comparable only when they describe the same specification and purchasing scope. Align the construction, size mix, included components and packing first. Then separate product cost, one-time charges and costs that still need confirmation.

Give suppliers the same starting brief

A photo and target price are useful discussion starters, but they do not define the same product for every supplier. One quotation may include a removable cover while another assumes a fixed cover, different core or different finished size.

Create a dated specification sheet with a revision code. Send the same sheet to each supplier and ask them to mark every deviation instead of silently substituting a material or construction. Keep alternatives on separate quotation lines.

  • Finished dimensions, measurement method and quantities by size.
  • Core construction and layers, with undecided items clearly marked.
  • Cover materials, opening, quilting, branding and proposed care instructions.
  • Components and retail packaging included in each unit.
  • Destination, sales channel and requested delivery scope.

For core selection, consult the coir and mini pocket spring comparison. A lower quote for a different core is an alternative product, not necessarily a saving on the same specification.

Write “not confirmed” for missing information. A blank cell is not evidence of a free service or included component. Ask whether the quoted production period starts after deposit, artwork approval, sample approval or another agreed event.

Separate unit charges from first-order costs

Keep repeatable unit charges separate from one-time development charges. This helps explain both a first order and a possible reorder without hiding initial costs.

Illustrative calculation only: Supplier A quotes USD 12 per unit plus USD 120 in setup charges. Supplier B quotes USD 13 per unit with no separate setup charge. At 100 units, both total USD 1,320 before other costs. At 500 units, their totals are USD 6,120 and USD 6,500 respectively.

These are not Senzero prices. The comparison is useful only if construction, quantity eligibility and included scope match. If Supplier A excludes a cover that Supplier B includes, the comparison is still incomplete. Do not treat this example as a real reorder price.

Ask whether sampling and setup charges are refundable, credited to an order or payable again after a design change. Keep the written answer instead of assuming a standard policy.

Check order mix and packing assumptions

A minimum quantity may apply to an entire order, one model, one size or one fabric colour. Ask which interpretation applies. A mixed-size order can have a different quotation basis from the same total quantity of identical units.

Request packing figures for each configuration. Do not compare a compressed-packing estimate with an uncompressed carton as if they were equivalent approved options. Reduced-volume packing must be confirmed for the selected construction; see the sample approval and packaging guide.

Keep product quotations separate from estimated freight and other delivery costs unless their scope is explicit. When a trade term is used, request the exact term, named place and applicable version. This checklist is not a customs calculation or legal interpretation of shipping terms.

Make the buying decision traceable

Shortlist on the complete specification, not just the lowest number. Resolve differences, then request a revised quote tied to the sample you intend to approve. Keep the original version so changes remain visible.

“Please revise this quote against specification revision B. Mark deviations, confirm quantities by size and colour, and separate unit cost from one-time charges. State included components, packing data, delivery scope, validity and the event that starts production lead time.”

For a Senzero pet mattress enquiry, send your dimensions, core preference, quantity mix and destination. MOQ, sample terms, price and production timing need project-specific confirmation; this guide does not publish universal terms.
